Work & Impact

My work centers on strengthening the student affairs profession by focusing on the people, practices, and systems that shape the employee experience. Across institutions and at the national level, I design strategies, frameworks, and learning experiences that elevate staff experience, strengthen leadership culture, and advance workforce sustainability.

Through this work, I aim to help leaders and organizations create environments where professionals can thrive and, in turn, better serve students.

Leadership Culture

NASPA 2026 Day 1-25.jpeg

WHAT IT MEANS

Leadership culture shapes how people experience their work every day. It is reflected in how leaders communicate, make decisions, recognize contributions, and create conditions for others to succeed. Strong leadership cultures are intentional, values-driven, and grounded in accountability, care, and clarity.

WHAT I'VE DONE

  • Designed and facilitated leadership development experiences focused on values-based leadership, emotional intelligence, and the leader’s role in shaping staff experience and organizational culture.

  • Served as Chair of the Centering the Student Affairs Workforce national workgroup, guiding the development of a field-wide framework and implementation strategies to strengthen leadership practices and workforce sustainability.

  • Delivered presentations and workshops at the national level, equipping leaders with actionable strategies to build engaged, high-performing, and people-centered cultures.

EXAMPLES IN PRACTICE

Developed and led interactive leadership workshops and multi-session learning experiences that helped leaders translate values into practice, strengthen team culture, and align leadership behaviors with organizational priorities and staff experience goals.

Workforce Sustainability

WHAT IT MEANS

Workforce sustainability is about designing systems that allow student affairs professionals to thrive over time, not just persist in the moment. It requires alignment between organizational structures, leadership practices, and employee needs to support retention, well-being, and long-term career viability.

WHAT I'VE DONE

  • Co-authored the Centering the Student Affairs Workforce white paper and Implementation Companion Guide through NASPA, advancing a national framework for workforce sustainability.

  • Led cross-functional and cross-institutional efforts to assess workforce challenges and translate insights into scalable strategies, tools, and institutional priorities.

  • Developed integrated approaches that align staff experience, leadership culture, and organizational systems to improve retention, engagement, and long-term workforce health.

EXAMPLES IN PRACTICE

Guided the development and application of a workforce sustainability framework, supporting institutions in assessing current conditions, identifying priorities, and implementing strategies that strengthen retention, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

Staff Experience

WHAT IT MEANS

Elevating the student affairs profession begins with a deep commitment to the full employee lifecycle. When staff feel valued, supported, and connected to purpose, they are better equipped to serve students with excellence, empathy, and sustained impact.

WHAT I'VE DONE

  • Led division-level staff experience audits and strategy initiatives to strengthen engagement, belonging, recognition, and retention.

  • Designed and implemented human-centered onboarding and transition frameworks that improve early connection, clarity, and long-term success.

  • Developed comprehensive staff experience and professional growth models that center career progression and workforce sustainability.

EXAMPLES IN PRACTICE

Directed a division-wide onboarding and staff experience audit that informed structural and cultural changes, resulting in improved onboarding consistency and increased staff sense of belonging and connection to the division.

Thought Leadership & Influence

WHAT IT MEANS

Thought leadership is about shaping how a field thinks, not just how it operates. It involves advancing ideas, challenging assumptions, and offering practical frameworks that help institutions and leaders navigate complex challenges with clarity and intention.

WHAT I'VE DONE

  • Published thought leadership across multiple platforms, contributing perspectives on staff experience, leadership culture, and workforce sustainability within student affairs.

  • Co-created the Staff Experience Coalition, fostering cross-institutional dialogue and collaboration to advance how the field supports and engages its workforce.

  • Produced strategic content that bridges theory and practice, helping leaders apply ideas related to staff experience, leadership culture, and workforce sustainability.

EXAMPLES IN PRACTICE

Developed and shared frameworks and insights that institutions and leaders have used to assess staff experience, refine leadership approaches, and implement strategies aligned with workforce sustainability and organizational effectiveness.
